Exploring is a co-ed, career-based leadership development program sponsored by a particular business or organization. Exploring groups are called Posts.
Exploring offers exciting activities and one-on-one mentorship opportunities for youth looking to discover their future. Whether you’re a local organization looking to strengthen the community and develop your future workforce pipeline, or a young person wanting to uncover the possibilities of your future, Exploring is a great place to start!
WHAT WILL I DO IN EXPLORING?
Exploring is focused on five key areas:
- Career Opportunities
- Leadership Experience
- Life Skill Development
- Citizenship
- Character Education
This program features career opportunities in fields such as engineering, technology, law enforcement, medicine, computer programming, architecture, and more.
Exploring is not an internship; it is more than that: it is an opportunity to develop as a leader and citizen and to explore career opportunities in an exciting field!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The National registration cost for Explorers is $50/year.
Each Post determines other dues based on their activity calendar.
Most costs can be partially or fully covered by fundraisers such as Camp Cards and Popcorn.
HOW CAN MY BUSINESS GET INVOLVED?
The Council is always looking to expand the career fields available through the Exploring program. If your company would like to give back to the community in a meaningful way, we would love for you to get involved in Exploring. Please call 303.455.5522 to connect with a district executive and learn how to get involved and:
- Cultivate your workforce pipeline
- Prepare young adults for the transition from school to work
- Develop future responsible and caring adults
- Improve staff teamwork working on common goals outside of normal work
- Contribute visibly to the welfare of the community
HOW DO WE GET STARTED?
You can use the tool at www.beascout.org to select your age group, find a unit near you, and reach out to the leaders of that unit about joining! They will have you complete an application and submit it, and then you can Start Scouting!
